![]() Jones Receives 2003 Distinguished Researcher Award Dr. Gary Jones, Professor of Mathematics and Statistics, received the 2003 Distinguished Researcher Award from the Murray State Alumni Association. His primary work concerns qualitative properties of solutions of ordinary differential equations. Jones has published 28 papers in journals that include Transactions of the American Mathematical Society, Journal of Differential Equations, Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal, and The Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. |
After
this semester, Jones will retire from full time service. He will teach part
time and continue doing mathematical research. He and his wife, Roberta,
enjoy their three grown children---all graduates of MSU. Jones said "My
life has been enriched by students and colleagues at MSU. For 34 years,
I've been proud to teach and do research at Murray State." Gary and
Roberta volunteer with children. He said, "We want to make the world
a better place for our little friends. We are especially blessed by children
at First Baptist in Murray." Gary and Roberta plan to expand their
volunteer work in teaching, clowning and storytelling. Jones received his undergraduate and Master's degree from SIU in Carbondale and his Ph. D. from the University of Missouri in 1969. He was honored by receiving the adult student Outstanding Faculty Award in 1994. |
