Transcript Information

Requesting a transcript from on-campus:

  • Transcript request forms are available at the Registrar's Office.

  • Your written signature is required to release your transcript.

  • Transcripts issued to the student are stamped Issued to Student and are generally viewed as unofficial by other schools.

  • Transcript requests may be held until courses in progress are completed or grade changes are made by the instructor if requested by the student.

  • A photo ID is required if you are picking your transcript up in person.

Requesting a transcript from off-campus:  The following is required when requesting a transcript by mail or fax.

  • Your full name, including all names that you might have used while at MSU.

  • Your Social Security Number.

  • Your dates of enrollment at MSU.

  • The name and address where the transcript will be mailed.

  • Your written signature.

  • Requests for faxed transcripts will be handled in the order received.  Faxed transcripts cost $5.00 each and are generally not considered official by recipients.

All mailed transcripts are sent via first-class mail.  We cannot send transcripts via express mail or priority air.

How do I pay?

  • Mail a check made payable to Murray State University with the completed and signed request form.

  • Pay online via RacerPay.  (Link on the request form.)

Due to the increasing volume of transcript requests, please allow 5 working days to process your request.

MSU reserves the right to withhold the release of an official transcript if the student has an obligation to the university.

$3.00 per mailed transcript.

$5.00 for walk-in/on-demand service.

Note: same-day service is not guaranteed, so check before you pay.

NO walk-in/on-demand transcript requests will be honored the two days subsequent to the receipt of semester grades.

$5.00 for faxed transcripts.  We do not fax internationally.

Students who are graduating need to request their transcripts as far in advance as possible.  Requests received on or after semester grade times will be delayed.

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions below:

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Transcripts

 1. I attended MSU a long time ago -- are my records still available?

The Registrar’s Office maintains student academic records from 1927 to the present.

2. How long will it take to process my request?

Transcripts are mailed out within 3-5 working days of receipt of the transcript request.  IMPORTANT: We cannot send transcript via express mail, FedEx, UPS, etc.  Transcripts can be requested prior to graduation and final semester grades.  These will be held for grades and/or graduation if requested.  Delays may occur at the end of a semester to allow for grade and graduation processing.

3. Are all transcripts official?

An official transcript bears the signature and seal of the Registrar and the date. It is generally mailed by the Registrar’s Office as some institutions may not accept transcripts received from the student. If the transcript is given to the student, it is stamped with "issued to student" on each page and will likely not be considered official by the receiving institution.  Transcripts that are faxed are not considered official.
