waterfield library Waterfield plans for renovation using, in part, funds garnered from the "It Starts at Home" program, established in November 2003. The Harry Lee Waterfield Library and the office of Development and Alumni Affairs launched a joint initiative to garner funds for a two-million dollar renovation to the library. Murray State was featured in the January 2004 issue of The Lane Report. The Lane Report is published by Kentucky Business Online and focuses on business and art in Kentucky. Murray State was featured as part of a special report on the role and importance of research at Kentucky's universities.

MSU professors publish textbook
A new textbook, Knowledge and Skill Development in Nonprofit Organizations, will be on Murray State University Bookstore shelves in February. The book is co-authored by Dr. Roger M. Weis, campus director and associate professor for the American Humanics/Youth and Nonprofit Leadership Program at MSU, and Dr. Vernon Gantt, retired professor of organizational communication at Murray State. MSU graduate served as nurse anesthetist in Bosnia
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), including active duty and reservists, are the main anesthesia providers to American troops and area civilians during the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom missions, according to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Murray State University graduate Lt. Col. Mary Jane Campbell found herself in action during the Operation Enduring Freedom Mission, along with her husband, Maj. C. Ben Campbell. Dean of Libraries appointed

Murray State University will welcome a new dean for its libraries on March 1. Dr. Laurene Zaporozhetz comes to Murray from the University of Toledo (Ohio) and brings to the position a national reputation in library administration.

Her prior experiences include dean positions, not only at Toledo, but also at Louisiana State University and the University of South Florida. Zaporozhetz has held positions in the field literally from coast to coast - Bowling Green State University (Ohio), the University of Oregon, the University of Nebraska and the Massachusetts Bureau of Library Extension.

In addition to having extensive library administration experience, Zaporozhetz is active in a number of professional organizations, including the Association of College and Research Libraries. She serves on accreditation teams for the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

She is a widely published author and is sought after as a speaker across the country. Many of her presentations focus on information literacy, technology and accreditation.

Zaporozhetz held leadership positions in state consortia including the Florida Center for Library Automation, the Louisiana Academic Library Information Network Consortium/Louisiana Online University Information System and OhioLINK.

She taught library and education courses at the universities of Nebraska, Oregon and South Florida, and at Emporia State University in Kansas.

Zaporozhetz holds the Ph.D. from the University of Oregon, the M.S. from Western Michigan University and her B.A. from Michigan State University. MORE
