Project Mentor Program

What is Project Mentor?
Project Mentor is an academic support unit of the Services for Students with Learning Disabilities program that offers enhanced services to students who use the SSLD Office. Students voluntarily access the services provided through Project Mentor. They receive individualized assistance with learning effective strategies for organizing and studying course related materials and assignments.

The Project Mentor staff who provide direct services include the SSLD Coordinator, the Project Mentor Supervisor, and Academic Mentors (upperclassmen and graduate students). Each student is assigned to work with at least one of the Academic Mentors on a regular weekly basis. Services are provided on an individual basis in addition to accommodations provided by law. Mentors can help with the following skills:

Study Skills
Test-Taking Strategies
Reading Skills
Writing Skills
Subject Content (e.g. Mathematics, History, Science, etc.)
Organization/ Time Management Skills
Social Skills
Self Advocacy Skills
Career-Related Issues
Referral to Other Campus Resources

Program Fees
Fees for Project Mentor are based on the number of hours each week the student meets with his/her Academic Mentor. Total costs for each semester are listed below.

$225/semester -- 1 hr/week	$900/semester -- 4 hrs/week
$450/semester -- 2 hrs/week	$1125/semester -- 5 hrs/week
$675/semester -- 3 hrs/week	$1350/semester -- 6 hrs/week

All services may not be available during summer terms. Please call ahead to verify the availability of staff and services during summer semesters.
