Your Math Autobiography


What is your math history? Briefly describe your chronological history in terms of the negative and positive experiences you had with math. Include your earliest memories, as well as memories of how your teachers and your family influenced you in math.

Describe how your family members approached math and describe their attitude towards your math ability. Include a description of how you’ve dealt with recent situations involving math in other classes, on the job, or in daily life situations. End with a discussion of how math could help you in accomplishing your educational objectives, in earning more money, in choosing a career or in any other aspect of your life.

Grading Criteria:(50 points)

  1. Punctuality (minus 10 points each day late from class date due)
  2. Proper English compositional style and form (5 points deducted for spelling errors; 5 points also deducted for grammatical errors: Max Deduct.= -10)
  3. Word processed/Typed (-20 points if hand written)
  4. Complete identification of teacher/coordinator/faculty advisor (Name/Office location/phone number/date(s) met) [-10 points if omitted or incomplete]

Outline suggestions:

  1. Teachers’ names
  2. Most memorable Math Moment
  3. Most embarrassing Math Moment (May be the same as "B")
  4. Where did I "lose it"? ( Math making sense)
  5. Where did I finally "Get it"? ( Math making sense)
  6. What are the jobs and careers I think about and how is math related to them even if only in the most remote way?
  7. If I were on "Who wants to be a millionaire/" and I needed a lifeline for a Math question, who would I call and why?
  8. What is your plan of action, areas of concern from your first MATH test?
  9. List the activities you will be doing to improve conditions for the next MATH test?
