Office of Student Affairs

Mission
Student Affairs' primary mission is the retention, welfare, growth, and development of Murray State University's student population. Student Affairs encompasses every dimension of student life including academic, vocational, social-cultural issues, civility and tolerance education, value clarification, and physical and psychological development.

The Office of Student Affairs provides many educational and administrative support services to the student population. Student Affairs is committed to excellence in the integration of classroom and extracurricular activities to ensure a supportive living-learning environment conducive to student life.

The guiding concepts for Student Affairs are: human growth and development; personal discipline; an open, supportive environment; and the provision of programs, activities; and services for personal growth.

Judicial Affairs
As a member of the university community, students are assured specific rights and privileges. Standards and behavior policies for the university community are established by the Board of Regents and published in the Murray State University Code of Conduct (available in the Student Life Handbook).

The Judicial Board, composed of trained students, faculty, and staff, along with the Judicial Affairs Officer assure that alleged Code of Conduct violators receive due process. The Judicial Board and the Judicial Affairs Officer impose sanctions when a student is found guilty of violating the Murray State University Codes of Conduct.

Veteran Affairs
Veteran Affairs is a department of Student Affairs located in Ordway Hall. Veteran Affairs assists veteran students with the transition from military to civilian/university life. Veteran Affairs educational assistance is available under six different programs, which include active duty and National Guard/Selected Reserve status.

Dependents or spouses of deceased and/or 100-percent disabled veterans may be eligible for benefits. A tuition waiver may also be available for dependents or spouses of deceased and/or 100-percent disabled Kentucky veterans through the Kentucky Veterans Affairs Center. Contact the Veteran Affairs office for additional information.
