The
Town and Gown Partnership is a dynamic organization
working to improve the quality of living and learning
in our community through cooperation between Murray
State University , and The City of Murray, Calloway
County, and industry and businesses that thrive within
our community. Since its inception our partnership
has expanded its scope and purpose as it has grown
in membership. The supportive, collaborative spirit
in which we have talked and worked together has fostered
the development of numerous projects which we have
undertaken to benefit the community and the university.
The Award winning Town and Gown CD Welcome
to Murray–Calloway County
is an outstanding recruiting tool and
paints a total picture of our community. The beautiful
Murray Marquee,
located in front of the Murray Calloway County
Chamber of Commerce Center, promotes events within
the community and says to our community and visitors,
“you’re important to us and we are glad you are here”

Town and Gown Project
Retail
Market Analysis
After
several planning sessions with Town
and Gown Members the Retail
Market Analysis was determined to
be a priority project that will benefit both
the university and the community. This analysis
will analyze our changing and expanding consumer
potential, identify business expansion opportunities,
and develop targeted market plans. Results should
aid in identifying companies that are seeking
to expand and their requirements. Additionally,
the results will serve as a valuable component
to a variety of grant applications for the university
and the community.
|
|
The
retail sector is rapidly saturating the
major metropolitan markets and is looking
at smaller markets for growth. |
| |
Retailers
are becoming increasingly more sophisticated
in the site selection process and are identifying
potential markets 2-3 years before development. |
| |
Communities
that can prove to retailers that they have
the unique customer base and sites for their
products will be successful in growing their
retail sector. |
| |
Retail
adds value to the community by increasing
revenues, creating new jobs, and improving
the quality of life. |
| |
Retail
serves as a catalyst for
other large-scale economic
development projects. |
