Murray State
University and the town of Murray, Kentucky, have always
enjoyed an excellent and mutually beneficial
relationship. The merchants and business people are in a
unique position to work together with their University
to promote Murray as an ideal learning and living
environment and in turn, to further their symbiotic
relationship.
What are
the purposes of the Town and Gown Partnership?
• Provide a forum for dialogue;
• Serve as a focus group on Town/Gown issues;
• Provide guidance and suggestions to the President and
members of the Administrative Council as needed;
• Provide leadership concerning Town/Gown issues to the
community;
• Create a Town and Gown Partnership Fund, with
distributions determined by the Leadership Committee of
the Partnership in conjunction with the President of the
University.
What is
required? Membership is $1000 annually.
What are
the benefits? In addition to the benefits on
the attached list, you will have first hand information
concerning issues that may affect you, such as changes
to the campus calendar, budgetary and funding concerns,
and other campus and student concerns.
What
are you asking me to do? We are asking you
to participate as a member of the Town and Gown Partnership.
The Partnership will meet quarterly for breakfast
with the President of the University to discuss issues
of mutual interest and concern. Members will be asked
to:
• Bring issues of concern to the business community
to the attention of the University leadership.
• Encourage other members of the Murray Business
Community to participate. Our goal is 100 members
to contribute at least $1000 annually to the Town
and Gown Partnership Fund.
• Advise the Leadership Committee of the Partnership
on distribution of the Town and Gown Partnership Fund.
