Chris Barker, Director of Sales, DataLock
Chris Barker has been the Director of Sales with DataLock for over six years and has helped grow the organization from a single employee operation to the largest privately owned document destruction company in the Southern Illinois region. DataLock is “AAA” certified by the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), and specializes in the secure destruction and storage of paper, media, and electronics. DataLock provides information security services and consulting to the medical, financial, legal, utilities, and manufacturing/distribution industries, as well as local, state, and federal agencies in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and Indiana. Chris is an active board member with the St. Louis chapter of the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM), as well as a member of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA). He provides secure destruction education to organizations through active memberships in the Southern Illinois Personnel Management Association (SIPMA), the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and the Southern Illinois Networking Association (SINA).
Kent Bohanon, State Farm Insurance
Kent joined the Telecommunications Systems Management program at its inception as the MSU Program of Distinction, and in 2002 he became one of the program’s inaugural bachelor degree recipients. While continuing his master’s studies, he put his TSM skills right to work with State Farm Insurance by developing network and application security solutions for the company’s agency force. In 2005, Kent received his MBA from Murray State. During his career with State Farm in Bloomington, IL, Kent progressed to lead solution development teams and focus on the creation of the company’s future security architecture. In late 2007, Kent was asked to lead State Farm’s marketing activities in Kentucky. Working with associates and vendors across the state, he grew the State Farm brand in the marketplace. The additional exposure to the daily activities of the company’s agents prompted Kent’s family to make an important decision; In 2009, he will be opening his own business as a State Farm agent in Paducah, KY. This new venture will allow Kent’s family to personally impact the lives of the community members in his hometown, something that has been their dream for many years. Kent has always taken pride in Murray State University and the TSM Program. He continues to support the TSM program through his membership on the TSM Advisory Board and through helping students in the TSM program find opportunities at State Farm.
Mark Garland, Communications Researcher, MSU Center for Telecommunications Systems Management
He works on several Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funded research projects, with an emphasis on Critical Infrastructure and Key Resource protection. He coordinates applied research and consulting in the application of Information Technologies with a focus on preparedness, security and defense.
Mr. Garland has worked in the Emergency Management field for over 15 years. He has trained and worked in Weapons of Mass Destruction response, search and rescue, prevention and response to suicide bombing incidents, hazardous materials response, computer modeling of chemical releases, and various Information Technology related emergency responses. He holds several Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) certifications, as well as accredited by the International Association of Emergency Managers.
Mr. Garland lives in Murray, KY with his wife Sabrina. When not working, Mark spends a lot of time on and below the water boating and scuba diving, or trying to keep up with his two sons. Mark also holds a General class amateur radio license.
Charles A. “Chuck” Jones, CEO, C. A. Jones Management Group, LLC
Jones can see clearly beyond the recession. In fact, some may question if the Murray businessman is even aware of tough economic times as he continues to open specialty- retail stores, acquire new businesses, and add to his arsenal of top-producing divisions.
In 1993, Jones started Integrated Computer Solutions Inc., a technology- based company with an emphasis on network installation for the education market. Since that time, he has built, bought, or partnered with 14 companies ranging from the area’s premier bridal registry and fine gifts retailer to the nation’s fourth largest college textbook wholesaler.
Jones combined his interest in technology, financial savvy, and talent for sales to build his private equity firm, which grew from 35 employees to 115 in less than one year. While his company is poised for another year of exponential growth in 2009, the driven entrepreneur is continually seeking new endeavors.
Jones’ contributions to numerous boards, committees, and philanthropies, are a testament to his drive and passion for effecting positive change. Jones is involved in political and community organizations and is this year’s co-chairman of the 2009 Calloway County Heart Walk along with his wife, Sarah.
Bradley Lide, President / CEO, CyberAngel Security Solutions, Inc.
Bradley Lide is President / CEO of CyberAngel Security Solutions, Inc., a company specializing in developing security software solutions for the mobile computing market. Bradley has been primarily responsible for the continuing forward direction in the evolution of their flagship product, The CyberAngel Security Software. Prior to his tenure, the software was a basic tracking and recovery tool. Bradley was instrumental in the adoption of encryption technology in 2002, integration with single sign-on technologies in 2004, and Wi-Fi tracking in 2006. His attention to marketplace trends and overall security knowledge has enabled this local Nashville company to grow and prosper over the past 11 years.
Bradley is currently President of the InfraGard of Middle Tennessee Members Alliance, and has been a member of its Board since inception in 2001. InfraGard is a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) program that began in the Cleveland Field Office in 1996. The InfraGard program has grown to over twenty nine thousand members throughout the country with the purpose of facilitation of two-way information sharing between its vetted members of the private sector and law enforcement, and education and awareness of security threats to our business communitie. In his regular duties as President, he works with Security leaders within the FBI, Office of Homeland Security, Secret Service, TBI, TEMA, and Metro Law Enforcement agencies from all across the State to enhance security practices and awareness. He is a member of the Nashville Technology Council and the annual InfoSec planning committee, and serves with Katalyst, an executive coaching and advisory group for small business ownership.
Prior to joining CSS, Inc., Bradley was Manager of Loss Prevention Services for Lowe’s Companies, responsible for all physical Loss Prevention areas: alarm systems, video surveillance systems, anti-shoplifting / deterrent systems, and card access systems used in all corporate properties. Bradley established the Corporate Security Monitoring Center, directed installations for all store locations nationwide, and continually upgraded the design of the burglar, fire, and video detection systems within all facilities.
Laurie Lovett Novak, PhD, MHSA
Dr. Novak is an anthropologist specializing in medical and business/industrial applications, and is currently a National Library of Medicine Postdoctoral Fellow in the Vanderbilt University Department of Biomedical Informatics. Her research has focused on activities related to design and implementation of large-scale clinical informatics systems. Specifically, current work examines communication, coordination and articulation work during changes in medication administration practices. Dr. Novak obtained her PhD in Anthropology at Wayne State University in Detroit, and a masters degree in health services management and policy from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. In the Vanderbilt biomedical informatics training program, Dr. Novak lectures on methods in qualitative research and economic evaluation.

Tucker has worked as a consultant for 11 years in the IT industry. For six years, Tucker worked as a Global Account Manager with MCI. As a Senior Account Consultant with NetGain Technologies for the last five years, Tucker has helped his customers answer technology question they have had trouble answering themselves. Tucker works with customer to identify their business needs and then develop a technology plan to address those needs. Often times, those business needs include compliancy to industry and governmental standards. Tucker has worked with many of his customers to develop customized solutions to his customers HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Graham Leach Biley, and PCI compliancy issues.
Joseph W. Popinski III, Ph D, CPP CISSP CFE CISM
Dr. Joe Popinski is an Information & Network Security consultant specializing in enterprise level networking and corporate security. He currently is Director – Network Security Consulting with IE - Dynetics, a network security, services and consulting company based in Huntsville, Alabama.
His experiences over the past 40 years range from government defense system technical analyses, to developing telephone company business/records keeping systems, to data network management, to security investigations & management, to network security consulting, to professional services, to hacker tracking & evidence analysis. He retired from BellSouth Telecommunications after a 30 year career and has worked as a Manager in KPMG Peat Marwick’s Information Risk Management practice, and as Director of Professional Services Division (Southeast) for Internet Security Systems’ (ISS).
Joe has BS in Electrical Engineering, from the University of Rhode Island, an MS in Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in, Hoboken, New Jersey, and a Ph.D. in Information Assurance from the University of Fairfax in Vienna, Virginia. Joe is an affiliate member of the faculty in the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) teaching courses in the Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity program, a part of the Masters in Management Information Systems degree program. Michael Ramage, Executive Director, Connected Tennessee, a division of Connected Nation, Inc.
Mr. Ramage is responsible for leading the successful implementation of the State of Tennessee’s Trail to Innovation, a comprehensive broadband deployment and adoption plan slated to leverage state, federal and private investment aimed at blanketing Tennessee with high-speed Internet access, as well as improving the use of technology and the Internet.
Mr. Ramage previously served as a Project Manager for ConnectKentucky, Connected Nation’s Kentucky initiative. In this role, he was responsible for facilitating comprehensive GIS-based Inventory Assessment of existing broadband infrastructure and service availability, the community-by-community implementation planning process and ensuring that every county in Kentucky’s western region has an online presence and the ability to improve the quality of life at the local level. Through this effort, communities were empowered to use technology applications and build partnerships that provided real-time budget savings and process efficiencies over the Internet, ensuring their ability to compete within the local and global marketplace.
Prior to joining ConnectKentucky, Mr. Ramage served Murray State University as Special Projects Leader, Lecturer and Network Manager within the Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology and the Center for Telecommunications Systems Management. While at Murray State, he was the recipient of grants from the National Science Foundation, Cisco Systems Inc., the United States Department of Education and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. Other accomplishments include the development of GIS mapping for Calloway County, which was the precursor to the mapping performed by Connected Nation, and the development of the International Telecommunications Education and Research Association. Additionally, Mr. Ramage led the West Kentucky Telehealth Initiative and conducted research on various telecommunications topics. Prior to joining Murray State University, he worked as a Network Specialist for BellSouth Telecommunications in Nashville following his employment as a Computer Technician at Camco Technologies in Paducah, Kentucky.

Scott Vetter has been in the Information Technology field since 1983 and has served as a technical consultant for many business verticals connected with Factory Floor, Manufacturing, Finance, Medical and Retail. Understanding how technology can be used to solve business problems has been at the fore front of his career. Those technologies have included Security, Wireless, Routing, Switching, Storage Area Networking and IP Telephony. Working for Cisco Systems since 1995 has afforded Scott a front row seat to a wide variety of emerging technologies. Creating solutions that enhance and protect customer productivity has been a reoccuring theme. His customer base ranges from 10 users to 1000s of users. No matter how large or how small a business, technology can help companies reduce cost and be more energy efficient while keeping information safe and meeting government regulations as they evolve.
John A. Williams, Chairman, CSI Board of Directors
Williams was named Executive Director of CSI in 1965; President and CEO in 1968; and Chairman of the Board in 1979.
He served as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Louisville Branch for three years and was a member of the Board for seven years. He is a founder and former President of the Association of Financial Technology (AFT); and former Chairman of CUBE (The Burroughs Computer Users).
In January 2004, John was named Distinguished Citizen by the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce for his civic work, notably in leading a campaign that raised more than $16 million for the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center for the Performing Arts. He currently serves as chairman of the Carson Center.
Several Kentucky governors have appointed him to serve on Governors' Commissions on subjects ranging from Economic Development to Science & Technology. In addition, he served on the Kentuckians for Excellence in Education Task Force; was a contributor to the design of Kentucky's reform system, and served as a member of the State Board of Education to implement Kentucky's reform program. He also chaired a project to roll out computers and related infrastructure to Kentucky schoolchildren called Kentucky Education Technology System (KETS), the first statewide effort to expand computer and Internet usage in schools across Kentucky.
In February 2006, John received the 2006 Governor’s Technology Award that honored him as the Kentucky individual who most deserved to be recognized as a leader in technology innovation.
He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky.
