Research:

Our Research focuses on the following areas:

  • Use of WLAN station models to create an ad-hoc WLAN.
  • Traffic Analysis
  • Observing the impact of the data configuration in a Wireless LAN environment.
  • Analysis of the impact of the RTS/CTS mechanism as a measure to prevent the hidden node problem.
  • Applications of RTS/CTS mechanism.
  • Setting up an Infrastructure BSS for WLAN.
  • Aggregating bandwidth to increase the capacity.
  • MAC layer modifications.

Teaching:

  • An Introduction to Wireless Systems (TSM-320):The Purpose of TSM- 320 is to provide student with an introduction to the rapidly changing field of wireless technology including the topics of wireless access technology and fundamentals, network mobility management and handoff, cellular, WLAN, broadband WiMAX, and mobile satellite services and applications. This course examines how mobility affects networks, systems and applications. It concludes with a brief overview of other related issues including wireless security. OPNET is used as a tool to familiarize students with Wireless Network Design and Simulation.

  • Fundamentals of Wireless Networking (TSM- 322): The Purpose of TSM-322 is to expand the student's knowledge and understanding of networking concepts and principles in the world of wireless communications and networking. Building from a foundation of radio frequency communications (RF) communication technology, the world of wireless local and personal area networks are explored at an intermediate level toward providing the students with a thorough understanding of the use, applications, and deployment of a wireless network. OPNET is used to simulate Ad-hoc network performance. WLAN and traffic analysis are tested for capacity considerations.
