Official Murray State University Colors When printing to a desktop printer (inkjet or color laser) it can be difficult to produce accurate color. The task is eased somewhat if you are designing your publication with professional graphic and layout applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Pagemaker, Quark Express; et al, but you probably will never achieve a perfect match. If you are using an application in which you can specify PMS (Pantone Matching System) colors, use the chart below for reference. Otherwise, obtain a brochure or similar university publication that was professionally printed and do your best to match the colors. Be sure you are matching print-to-print, not monitor-to-print. Colors on your monitor are luminous by nature, and can vary greatly from actual ink on paper. Matching color on the web is far more straightforward. Simply specify the hexadecimal code. (Murray State's color codes are listed in the chart below.) Hexadecimal colors are so-named because of the 6-digit (hexa-) number used to specify a particular hue. These codes can contain both numbers and letters. For example, #FFFFFF is the hexadecimal code number for white; #000000 (all zeroes) is black.
