Minority Graduate Fellowship

Murray State University is committed to assisting individuals from underrepresented minority groups in obtaining their higher education goals. As part of this mission, the Minority Graduate Fellowship program was established to assist African-American and Hispanic-American graduate students. Recipients of these fellowships will receive a full tuition waiver and stipend totaling $3,750 per semester for up to four semesters. Admission into the program is competitive and applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible to ensure the application package is successfully completed. Spring Semester Deadline is October 1. Fall Semester is February 1. 

Eligibility:

  • Must be an African-American or Hispanic-American resident of Kentucky or within the Murray State Regional Incentive Area
  • Must be admitted unconditionally to a graduate program as a degree-seeking student
  • Must have achieved a minimum undergraduate or graduate cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 (based upon a 4.0 scale)
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours of graduate coursework during the semesters of the award and maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Must work in the Office of Multicultural Student Initiatives, Student Leadership and Inclusive Excellence under the supervision of the Executive Director for a minimum of 20 documented hours per week.

Successful individuals will be eligible to retain their fellowship for up to four semesters provided all requirements of the fellowship are met each semester. Students must request continuation of their fellowship no later than October 1 for the spring semester, and March 1 for the fall semester to continue their fellowship.
