Quad State High School Honor Choir

The 2024 Quad State Honor Choir is scheduled for November 3-4, 2024 on the campus of Murray State University. Students will be studying and performing music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Joseph Haydn in Mostly Mozart.

• The Honor Choir is limited to 200 students, selected by recorded auditions.
• Music packets will be provided after the auditions.

Important Dates and Deadlines

Friday, September 20, 2024 - Deadline to submit pre-registration form and recorded auditions.

Friday, October 4, 2024 - Notified of students selected for the Honor Choir.

Friday, October 25, 2024 - Registration fee of $40 must be submitted for each student selected for the Honor Choir*
NOTE: Registration fees may be paid on Sunday evening with prior approval.

Sunday and Monday, November 3-4, 2024 - Quad State Honor Choir Festival.

Auditions

• The choir will be limited to 200 singers selected by recorded audition.
• The singers may use piano, synthesized accompaniment, or sing a cappella. Your students must identify themselves clearly by name - school – and voice part. 
• There is no limit to the number of auditions your school may send, there is no audition fee, and students may audition on more than one voice part. 
• To audition, please send a separate recording with each student singing the specific part for which they are auditioning. Please identify on the recording the name of the individual singing, name of the school, and the voice part.
• Please send the recorded audition performances via dropbox, email as an mp3, mp4, or wav file or as a Youtube link or use the QR code on the audition information sheet. You may also send your auditions in as a Group File, CD or flashdrive.

Solos

We would like to use high school soloists. There are solos for each voice type (SATB) in the Gloria and Agnus Dei. The Benedictus will be sung by a solo quartet. There is also a lovely extended soprano solo in the Laudate Dominum.

Auditioning for a solo

• Solos - Interested singers should send a separate audio file with that solo.
• Solo Quartet - Singers interested in the quartet must send their part of the quartet.

Rehearsals

• First rehearsal will be Sunday evening, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. in Lovett Auditorium. 
• Each singer have their own copy of the music and a pencil
• Measures should be numbered starting with 1 on the first complete measure at the beginning of each movement/piece.

For Students Considering Murray State

Please let us know if you have a student who is considering majoring in music at Murray State. We can provide information about admission and scholarships. Members of the voice faculty will be available to meet with students during the day on Monday.
