The Shoe Tree near Pogue Library — The Shoe Tree is located outside Pogue Library and is an ongoing tradition for couples who met at Murray State and went on to get married.

In the spring of 1969, Marty Kady called and set me up on a blind date with his good friend, Lenn (Bear) Jamerson. Marty and I had worked on the Murray State News together. We met and went on our first date toward the end of March. By the end of April, we were engaged and married in September. That was 50 years ago. We both are believers in love at first site.
