Waterfield Library: "Works by Rick Nance," Oct. 13–Nov. 7, 2017

The University Libraries, Murray State Department of Art & Design and University Galleries are pleased to announce an exhibit of "Works by Rick Nance," on view in the Waterfield Library from Oct. 13 through Nov. 7, 2017. Nance is a professional graphic designer and visiting lecturer in Illustration and Graphic Design this year in Murray State's Department of Art & Design. He is also the host of the WKMS radio show, "Rick’s Kitchen Sink."

In his artist statement, Nance writes:

My art represents a long and varied career from an art student in the 1970s at Murray State University to a pre-press technician and photographer in Nashville, Tennessee, in the 1980s to the freelance illustrator and instructor that I am presently. While my work is solely digital media, I attempt to combine elements in my work found in many non-digital technical processes: hatch-marks and halftone dot patterns. In my imagery, I draw from pop culture and classical themes. Much of my personal work reflects my love of music and literature. I have been lucky as a freelance graphic designer to incorporate much of these same elements in my professional work.

"Works by Rick Nance" is free and open to the public during Waterfield Library’s normal hours.
