The Murray State University Department of Art & Design and the Clara M. Eagle Gallery present “Remembering,” the BFA exhibit in sculpture and photography by Taylor McCord, on view in the Clara M. Eagle Upper Center Gallery from Oct. 27 through Nov. 10, 2017.

McCord, a senior from Marion, Kentucky, is the student technician in Sculpture, as well as a gallery photographer and assistant in the Department of Art & Design. She is the daughter of Kathi Stalion of Marion and Greg McCord of Paducah. Among McCord’s many awards are first place in the annual Organization of Murray Art Students (OMAS) Juried Exhibition in 2016 and serving as historian of OMAS in 2016. She has also been included on the dean’s list for high scholarship every semester.

The artwork in "Remembering" features photography, video, sound and installation.

Taylor in her Studio with Remembering

About her work, McCord writes: "Remembering" is about my process of trying to hold onto the past and my memories but realizing that the past fades and memories change. My work amplifies the separation felt when trying to hold onto the past. Remembering includes pieces—two-dimensional and three-dimensional—that are artificial stand-ins for home.

The reception for "Remembering" will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Clara M. Eagle Upper Gallery.

Admission is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
