Mezzo-soprano Kate Tombaugh has been praised as “utterly convincing dramatically, and musically superlative” (Seen and Heard International). Her 2017–18 season includes debuts with Stockton Opera as Hansel in Humperdinck’s "Hansel and Gretel," as well as with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Northwestern Indiana Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Seattle, Evansville Philharmonic and the New Philharmonic ensembles. She will appear with Ensemble Die Kammersanger with the Habanera from Bizet's opera, Carmen, Dido's Lament from the opera, Dido and Aeneas and the Agnus Dei section from Rossini's Solemn Mass. The program includes arias with piano accompaniment as well as several choral numbers by the a capella group Die Kammersanger, conducted by Conor R. Whalen. The recital will take place in the Fine Arts Building's Performing Arts Hall on the campus of Murray State University.
