DarkWater explores the local economic and ecological impact of one invasive species: the Asian carp. Introduced into the environment decades ago in an effort to control noxious algae, the Asian carp population has exploded in the rivers and lakes of the Ohio River Valley and beyond, causing countless environmental problems. The documentary wants to bring awareness of the Asian carp issue within the context of the lives of the fishermen, looking at the market for the fish and some possible solutions. The film is part of the Four Rivers Watershed Sustainability Festival and is sponsored by the Jackson Purchase Foundation, the City of Murray, and Murray State's Watershed Studies Institute (WSI).
