Making the Connection: Sexual Violence and Academic Outcomes

Dr. Carol Jordan will lead this discussion on how sexual violence impacts academic outcomes, as well as, strategies for mediating negative outcomes.  Administrators, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Carol E. Jordan currently serves as the Executive Director of the University of Kentucky Office for Policy Studies on Violence Against Women. She holds faculty appointments in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Psychiatry. In 2003 she became the founding director of the UK Center for Research on Violence Against Women, and after serving in that capacity for over a decade, she founded the Office for Policy Studies onViolence Against Women. Before coming to the university, she worked for 8 years on the executive staff of Governor Paul Patton serving as executive director of the Governor’s Office of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Services.

A primary focus of Jordan’s career has been advancing legal and policy reform. She has authored 34 pieces of legislation passed by the Kentucky General Assembly to expand and strengthen legal, protective, advocacy, and mental health services to victims of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking, and related crimes.
