Student Leadership Series
Emerging Leaders is the initial Student Leadership Program designed for Murray State students with Freshmen standing. Emerging Leaders introduces participants to leadership through educational sessions, activities, and discussions. Some topics that Emerging Leaders will cover include:
- Leadership Fundamentals
- Personal Wellness
Emerging Leaders will meet on Mondays at 7:30 pm for 30 minutes to one (1) hour during
the fall semester and meet once a month in the spring semester. There is no cost
to participate in the Emerging Leaders program.
Participants are chosen by application and a group of 25-30 students will be chosen. Applications for Fall 2016 are due by 4:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2016 and can be dropped off in the Center for Student Involvement (First Floor of the Curris Center).
The sophoMORE Leadership program is the second step in the Leadership Series. This program is designed for Murray State students with Sophomore standing. This program will build upon the fundamentals that were established in Emerging Leaders and go beyond in areas of:
- Goal Setting
- Organizational Leadership
- Confrontation and Compromise
SophoMore Leadership will meet once a month during the fall semester on Wednesdays
at 6:30 pm for 30 minutes to one (1) hour during the spring semester. There is no
cost to participate in the sophoMORE Leadership program.
Leadership Murray State
Leadership Murray State is the third program in the Student Leadership Series and is more intensive than the first two programs. Leadership Murray State participants will meet twice a month for the entire semester, and will explore more deeply the topics covered in the Emerging Leaders and sophoMORE Leadership Program.
The final program in the Student Leadership Series is Leadership Fellows. Leadership Fellows meet once a month for one hour educational sessions and spend the remainder of their time contributing back into the Student Leadership Series by acting as mentors to Emerging and sophoMORE Leadership participants.
