Emerging Scholars Institute (Mentoring Program)
The Emerging Scholars Institute (ESI) is designed to address the needs of our multicultural
student population by paying attention specifically to their transitional experience
from high school to college and provide students the help they need to gain and master
the proper academic and leadership skills required for their chosen field as well
as reflect the characteristics of a Murray State University graduate.
The first phase of the ESI program is Connected which is peer mentoring program for
incoming freshmen at the beginning of the fall semester. ESI Team leaders assist you
in your transition from high school to college. For second and third year students,
the Emerging Scholars Institute “On-Track” provides a structured retention focused
phase that emphasizes self-help which focuses on academic success and community service.
And the final component of the ESI program – Find the Leader in You (FLY) program
assists third and fourth year students with the appropriate preparation for finding
internships, job placement, graduate school or professional school selection. Top
students are selected and matched up with an Alumni Mentor in their chosen academic
field.
