Strategic Communications

The advertising program (including both the major and minor) provides instruction in the major areas of the advertising industry. Our program prepares students for careers in a number of advertising positions, including research, advertising sales, copywriting, layout and design, media planning and placement, and account service. Students can enhance their classroom learning through participation in the Murray State Ads Club, our campus chapter of the American Advertising Federation.

The public relations program provides practical, real-world training and experience in the planning and implementation of comprehensive public relations strategies and tactics. Specific technical skills are mastered through a well-sequenced core set of courses that provide each graduate with a portfolio of work, professional experience and significant interaction with real clients and brands.
