Lab Facilities

The Exercise Science laboratory courses provide students with well-designed experiences to develop valuable hands-on practical skills, critical-thinking and teamwork abilities. In addition, the exercise physiology lab course offers unique empathy labs simulating COPD and obesity, which allow students to understand the changes in physiological response associated with these health conditions.

The clinical exercise physiology lab is equipped with a wide variety of screening and testing equipment. Students become proficient in assessing and interpreting heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure, anthropometric measurements, body composition, capillary lactate and blood glucose sampling, ECG administration, cardiorespiratory fitness testing and musculoskeletal screenings and assessments. Students also have the opportunity to become involved in faculty-mentored research projects as well as service learning opportunities to work with members of the campus and greater community.
