Choosing Murray State as a Graduate Student
Choosing Murray State as a Graduate Student

I’ve been lucky enough to call Murray State my “home away from home” since I was 13. My mom accepted a position at Murray and we were both immediately welcomed with open arms. When I graduated high school, it was an easy decision to come to Murray State and officially become a Racer.
I graduate in May with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and journalism and I am so excited! I have learned so much in my three years at Murray- as a writer for the Murray State News, a student worker for the Dean’s Office in Humanities and Fine Arts, and serving as a student representative on committees around campus. This university has given me the tremendous opportunity to grow personally and professionally, so it made sense to continue my education at the finest place I know!
I will be the first to admit that I looked at other graduate schools, besides Murray State. I liked the appeal of being out of state and having more independence. I did A LOT of research on schools, programs, cities, and (of course) tuition. When it was time to make my decision, I ultimately chose the graduate school I knew would give me a quality education at an affordable price.
As a graduate student at Murray State, you will have the unique opportunity to take classes and maintain a full-time career at the same time. I know personally that faculty and staff are here to support all students- no matter what questions you may have! I encourage you to reach out to your major’s graduate coordinator to learn more about the program! They are there to help you and answer any questions you may have!
