Underground Storage Tanks

Murray State University has an underground storage tank used for auxiliary heating. The tank has been upgraded to meet environmental regulations imposed in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. The tank has leak prevention engineering, leak detection and spill controls in place to reduce the potential for a fuel release and lessening the effects.  

Murray State University has closed and removed several underground storage tanks, which were abandoned, leaking, or had a high probability of developing a leak. The tank closure reports were filed and approved by the state of Kentucky Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
