General IRB Meeting and Deadline Information
Calendar for Institutional Review Board (IRB) meetings (Full Board Review)
The IRB meets at 11 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, when the university is in session.
Researchers submitting Full Review applications are required to attend the IRB meeting in which their application is reviewed. Meetings are held in person and via Zoom. Applicants will receive instructions by email on how to attend the meeting.
2025-2026 ANNUAL DATES AND DEADLINES
- August 1, 2025: submissions are accepted starting August 1st, and reviewed at the beginning of the semester.
- November 6, 2025: Full Review protocols are due for approval before Winter Break.
- December 3, 2025: Exempt and Expedited protocols are due for approval before Winter Break.
- April 18, 2026: Full Review protocols are due for approval by the end of the semester.
- May 2, 2026: Exempt and Expedited protocols are due for approval by the end of the semester.
- Summer 2026: no Full Review protocols are accepted during the summer.
- June 16, 2026: Exempt and Expedited protocols are due.
Fall 2026 IRB Full (Convened) Board MEETING DATES AND DEADLINES
- September 2, 2026: Full Board protocols due by close of business August 19, 2026.
- October 7, 2026: Full Board protocols due by close of business September 23, 2026.
- November 4, 2026: Full Board protocols due by close of business October 21, 2026.
- December 2, 2026: Full Board protocols due by close of business November 18, 2026.
Exempt From Further Review and Expedited Applications
- Allow 2-3 weeks (business days) for Exempt from further review certifications.**
- Allow 2-3 weeks (business days) for Expedited approvals.*
- Allow 2-3 weeks for renewals and amendments to Expedited and Exempt studies.**
- Exempt and Expedited complete application packets are reviewed in the order received.**
*Note: The IRB Committee does not convene during Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, or Summer.
**Note: If IRB application packets are incomplete or require revision, the protocol cannot be submitted to IRB for review. Therefore, the review timelines provided above represent those anticipated for complete application packets that do not require revision.
