Our photography team strives to provide high quality, creative imagery to showcase and support the University. We maintain an extensive image database and archive via SmugMug that is used for official branding and marketing purposes.

Photographic services are offered to aid in the marketing and branding of Murray State University as a whole, with top consideration given to the following initiatives:

  • Supporting overall University marketing and branding objectives

  • Coverage and support of major events

  • Assisting in media relations initiatives

Please note that there may be a charge for photography event requests that do not meet the above parameters.

What we do

  • Marketing Material: Campus photographs are often used for various University marketing purposes, such as admissions materials for prospective students.

  • Murray State Website: We provide photos that are cropped and resized to fit the Banner image area.

  • Media Relations: Services can include providing photos to supplement media coverage of campus events.

  • Events: Allow us to help document your official Murray State award ceremonies, luncheons, dinners, lectures, concerts and other performances. Contact at least 10 working days before your event to schedule a photographer.

  • Groups or Organizations: Gather your campus club, organization or department members together for a group photo to use for your web page or social media accounts.

  • Head Shots: Receive a professional portrait to be used for your department webpage, social media accounts or media requests. Official Murray State faculty and staff head shots are free for university website use.

  • Special Projects: Collaborate with our team on special photo projects for Murray State publications, webpages or other branding purposes.

  • Drone policy: Individuals who wish to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) on or over campus property must submit a request by contacting the office of Branding, Marketing and Communication at 270.809.2198 or emailing a request to that states the intended purpose and a detailed safety/flight plan at least one business day prior to desired operation. Operators must also provide appropriate electronic copies of current licensure, registration and proof of insurance (if not held by Murray State University) in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Reviews and possible granting of drone usage by campus individuals are limited to official University/campus needs, activities and events.

Please request a photographer with at least 10 working days’ notice. Submit a detailed photographic services request (include: Event Date/Location/Approximate Event Duration/Any Specific Photo Requests) via e-mail to You will receive a response within 48 hours during normal office hours. Please note that a request does not guarantee confirmation of a photographer.
