Family Weekend Schedule

Thank you to all families and students who attended Family Weekend 2021 in October. Dates for 2022 will be posted here as soon as they are finalized with Racer Athletics.

Schedule

8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Gallery Exhibits, 6th Floor Fine Arts

Clara M. Eagle Gallery Exhibits open for viewing. Exhibits are located on the 6th floor of the Fine Arts building and are complimentary. Learn more information about the Gallery Exhibits. 

11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

It’s the Big 4-0!, Curris Center

Celebrate the Curris Center's 40th Birthday with the campus community. Light refreshments served.

7 p.m.

Mr. MSU Pageant, Ballroom, Curris Center, Murray State Campus

A longstanding favorite event on campus, Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority will host the Mr. MSU Pageant, where Murray State men perform their talents to compete for the crown. Guests can buy tickets at the door for $10, and proceeds will benefit the Arthritis Foundation.

7:30 p.m.

Movie Night with Athletics, Stewart Stadium

Rudy will be played at Stewart Stadium. See our famous horse, Racer One, in attendance. Viewing of the movie is complimentary. 

7:15 a.m.

Racer 5k, Wellness Center

Start your Saturday off right by participating in our Racer 5k! Check-in begins at 7:15 a.m.; Race starts at 8 a.m. Register online prior to the event. Registration also accepted in person the morning of the event. View cost and registration information.

9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Wellness Center, Wellness Center

Families and guests are welcome to tour or exercise at Murray State’s 73,000 square foot recreation facility free of charge.

9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Residential College Reception, Residential College Lobbies

Visit the place where your student lives and/or participates in educational activities and intramural sports while at Murray State and enjoy complimentary breakfast items in the lobbies of the Residential Colleges.  The Outstanding Parent/Family Member for each Residential College will also be recognized at each reception. The receptions are complimentary. 

9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Honors College Drop-In, Franklin Residential College Lobby

Honors College families are welcome to stop by the Honors Living Learning Community (LLC) located in the three wings of the Franklin Residential College. Light refreshments will be served. This event is complimentary. 

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Burton Family Hall of Champions Tours, CFSB Center, Front Entrance

Walk through the Hall of Champions with your family and learn more about Murray State’s athletic history. Located at the front of the CFSB Center, the Hall of Champions highlights the greatest individuals and championship teams in Racer history. Admission is complimentary. 

Noon – 1 p.m. (Time and location changed!)

Conversations with University Administration, Great Lawn (during lunch)

Join University President, Dr. Bob Jackson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Tim Todd, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Dr. Don Robertson, academic deans and other administrators for informal conversations about the University’s mission, vision, and goals for the future.

Noon – 1:30 p.m.

Family Lunch, Great Lawn between Alexander Hall and the Science Complex

Enjoy a family lunch of pulled pork or chicken sandwiches, baked beans, watermelon slices, chips, Grandma’s Cookies®, and water or soda with Murray State faculty and staff while also taking part in….

The event will be held on the Great Lawn between Alexander Hall and the Science Complex and admission requires your purchase of lunch tickets prior to the event.

*In the case of inclement weather, the Family Lunch will be relocated to Winslow Dining Hall.

Racer Band Performance, Quad

Enjoy the energy and excitement of the Racer Band!

1:45 p.m.

Racer Walk with the Football Team and Racer Band, Curris Center

Cheer on our Racer football team as they prepare to play Eastern Illinois.  Greet the team as they walk out of the Curris Center and cheer for their success as we walk towards Stewart Stadium.

2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Murray State University Alumni Association Tailgate, Sid Easley Alumni Center Plaza

Enjoy time with Racer alumni while enjoying light refreshments and appetizers prior to kickoff. The event is open to all families. Due to venue size limitations, online registrations will no longer be accepted after 9/10/2021.

2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Football Ticket Pick-up, Will Call Located at Gate 4, Stewart Stadium

If you pre-registered and haven’t picked up your football tickets, you still have time!  These tickets will be available at Will Call, Gate 4 of Stewart Stadium.

Note: Kids through College students are admitted to the game for free.

4 p.m.

Racer Football vs. Eastern Illinois, Stewart Stadium

Cheer on the Racer Football Team with your family as they face Eastern Illinois! And, Clear the track! For more than 40 years, Racer One has been helping fans celebrate touchdowns with a victory lap around the field. Celebrate with us as we recognize the Outstanding Family Members and their student during halftime.

7:30 p.m.

Cinema International Films, Curris Center Theatre

Enjoy an international film experience with family in the Curris Center Theatre. Viewing of the movie is complimentary.

Film: Gemma Bovery (France) 2014. Anne Fontaine’s film is a vibrant seriocomic re-imagining of Gustave Flaubert’s literary classic Madame Bovary, and a clever adaptation of Posy Simmonds’ graphic novel Gemma Bovery. In French with English subtitles.

The Arboretum at Murray State

Come take a stroll, go for a run, play on the playground or walk your dog through these student-maintained gardens. 

Downtown Farmer’s Market

Saturday, 7 a.m. – Noon | Court Square, Downtown Murray

Shop fresh, local produce, snack on scrumptious baked goods, pick-up arts and crafts made with care by local artisans, socialize and spend quality time with family while learning about Murray’s friendly, inviting atmosphere. Meet the vendors and find out more information.

Central Park

7 a.m. – 10 p.m. | Gil Hopson Drive, Murray, KY

Enjoy a day at Central Park! It is home to a dog park, skate park, community theatre, amphitheater, playgrounds, walking trails, picnic pavilions, baseball and softball diamonds, and more.

Land Between the Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area

Woodlands Nature Station at Land Between the Lakes

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. | 3146 Silver Trail Road, Cadiz, KY

An environmental educational attraction, the Nature Station serves as a gateway to the 8,500-acre Nature Watch Area. You can also set out on scenic hiking trails, sunset canoe trips, kayak tours and photo tours while you’re there.

Golden Pond Planetarium and Observatory

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. | 238 Visitor Center Drive, Golden Pond, KY

When you visit the Golden Pond Planetarium, you will enjoy a variety of entertaining and educational programs presented with a projection system which displays images on a 40-foot theater dome.

Elk and Bison Prairie

Dawn – Dusk | Elk & Bison Prairie Rd, Golden Pond, KY

Elk and bison, along with numerous other types of wildlife, roam free within this 700-acre enclosure. Travel the 3.5-mile loop in your vehicle while appreciating the prairie in fall.

LBL Bridge to Bridge Trail Run

Saturday, 8 a.m.

Bridge to Bridge Trail Run through the beautiful Land Between the Lakes.  Learn more information and register for the run.

Miller Memorial Golf Course

11 a.m. – 6 p.m. | 2814 Pottertown Rd. Murray, KY

Named as one of the best golf courses in America, Miller Memorial Golf Course is a great place to spend an afternoon in Murray. 

Kayak and Canoe Rentals

Noon – 9 p.m. | Wellness Center at Murray State

Rent kayaks or canoes from the Wellness Center on campus, and enjoy a day exploring Kentucky Lake!
