MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University has been recognized nationally as one of Kentucky’s best employers by Forbes as part of the publication’s “2021 Best Employers” list. Murray State is ranked 13th among the 50 state employers which were recognized on the list, and was the highest-ranked four-year public regional comprehensive university in Kentucky.

The list was divided into 51 rankings — one for each of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia — and was compiled by surveying 80,000 individuals working for businesses with at least 500 employees. Surveys were conducted on a rolling basis from October 2020 to June 2021 and were anonymous, allowing participants to freely share their opinions.

"I am extremely pleased that we have been recognized as one of the state's best employers by Forbes and the only four-year public regional comprehensive university in Kentucky to receive this accolade,” Murray State President Dr. Bob Jackson said. “This ranking is a credit to our faculty, staff and students who greatly value everything that Murray State has to offer.”

Murray State has also been recognized multiple times within the past decade by the Chronicle of Higher Education in the publication’s "Great Colleges to Work For" rankings.

For nearly 100 years, Murray State has served students from the region, the nation and the world, and employs approximately 1,200 faculty and staff, who provide personalized attention and support to nearly 10,000 students.
