College of Education and Human Services holds annual end-of-year celebration to honor faculty and staff

Murray State University’s College of Education and Human Services held its annual end-of-year celebration for the faculty and staff on May 12. This celebration was held in the Alexander Hall Atrium and had lunch provided

MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University’s College of Education and Human Services held its annual end-of-year celebration for the faculty and staff on May 12. This celebration was held in the Alexander Hall Atrium and had lunch provided.

At this celebration, faculty and staff were honored for all of their hard work and dedication to the college during the school year. Retirees were also honored and presented with plaques to thank them for their time, service and tireless work with the college and its students throughout the years.

Retirees for this year included:

    • Dr. Paul Lucko – Chair, Community Leadership and Human Services

    • Dr. Lynn Patterson – Chair, Early Childhood and Elementary Education

    • Dr. Barbara Washington – Chair, Adolescent, Career and Special Education

    • Dr. Kala Chakradhar – Associate Professor, Social Work - Community Leadership and Human Services

    • Dr. Judy Brookhiser – Associate Professor, Health and Physical Education - Adolescent, Career, and Special Education

    • Dr. Richard Dodson – Associate Professor, Education Administration Program - Educational Studies, Leadership and Counseling

    • Ms. Karen McCuiston – Director, Kentucky Center for School Safety

Those that will not be returning in the next school year were also recognized for their time and service to the college and were presented with certificates of appreciation.

Two individuals in the college were also recognized for their hard work and research efforts with the Outstanding Staff Support Award and the Outstanding Research and Creativity Award.

    • Dr. Jessica Evans, director of assessment and accreditation, received the Outstanding Staff Support Award.

    • Dr. Jennifer “Nikki” Gaylord, assistant professor/clinical supervisor and speech-language pathologist for the Center for Communication Disorders, received the Outstanding Research and Creativity Award.
