MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University’s College of Education and Human Services will host the 41st annual Harry M. Sparks Distinguished Lecture Series on Tuesday, April 28.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Kerry Magro, an autistic professional speaker, author and consultant for Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum U.S.
Magro is an award-winning national speaker and bestselling author. Nonverbal at age 2 and a half and diagnosed with autism at age 4, he has overcome significant challenges to become an internationally recognized advocate for autism awareness and inclusion.
Dr. David Whaley, dean of the College of Education and Human Services, emphasized the significance of the longstanding lecture series and the impact of this year’s keynote speaker ahead of the event.
“The Harry M. Sparks Distinguished Lecture Series is one of our college’s most meaningful traditions, as it brings together education, advocacy and community,” Whaley said. “Dr. Magro’s journey and work as an advocate for autism awareness and inclusion reflect the values we strive to instill in our students. We are honored to welcome him to campus and to recognize outstanding educators whose daily work makes a lasting impact.”
During the lecture, recipients of the Outstanding Educator Awards will also be recognized.
The Sparks Lecture will begin at 5 p.m. in Alexander Hall auditorium, Room 240. A complimentary dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. in the Alexander Hall atrium.
