MURRAY, Ky. — Several Murray State University faculty have been noted by TOPSCINET for their research and academic excellence as among the world’s most highly cited scientists, according to topscinet.com.

Drs. Bommanna Loganathan (Department of Chemistry) and Howard Whiteman (Department of Biological Sciences) are both recognized globally in terms of career citation data, while Loganathan is among the world’s top 2% of the most-cited scientists for six consecutive years.

Drs. Ramesh Gupta (Breathitt Veterinary Center), Cemil Kuzey (Department of Computer Science and Information Systems), Juyoung Song (Department of English and Philosophy) and Dan Wann (Department of Psychology) are also recognized for their cited research within a singular year.

The database uses citation metrics derived from Scopus to identify researchers among the top 2% worldwide based on standardized citation indicators including the h-index, co-author-adjusted hm-index, article citations and a composite citation indicator, among other measures.

“Our faculty guide the development of Murray State students both in and out of the classroom,” Murray State University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Paul Twigg said. “It's exceptional to have faculty recognized as a top scientist because it showcases their ability and expertise in providing opportunities for our students and leading progress in western Kentucky.”
