Murray State University Career Services is a comprehensive career department dedicated to assisting Murray State students, alums, faculty, staff and employers with all aspects of career development/recruitment in a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment empowering them with the tools and skills necessary to succeed in their career path.
Meet the Staff

Matthew Purdy
Director
Career Services
Matt Purdy received his Master of Business Administration in 2006 and did a Marketing degree in 2004. Matt is originally from Carbondale, Illinois and enjoys barbecuing, technology and family. He got into Career Services and planned to only stay for 6-12 months while he looked for a real job, which was 10 years ago! He is one of the lucky few that can honestly say that he loves his job! His favorite career hack is getting in touch with people through mutual contacts/friends. His favorite thing about Career Services in how dedicated the Career Services team is!
Amanda Mansfield

Amanda Mansfield received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 2018 and also attained her Master of Business Administration in 2020. She is from Weakley County, Tennessee and enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and binge-watching TV shows. Amanda has experience in finance, journalism, nonprofit leadership, and collegiate student success. She is currently working toward her EdD in P-20 Education and Community Leadership with a focus on Postsecondary Education. She loves to try new things and has recently started learning to play the bass guitar. Her favorite career hack is finding ways to make your own opportunities, like internships. A lot of internships, students end up with, were never advertised. They simply used their connections and marketed themselves to create their own internship experience. Her favorite thing about the Career Services office is helping to foster relationships between students and the community through internships and career building.

Travis Plunkett
Employer Relations Coordinator

Travis Plunkett received his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture/Agronomy in May 2016 and has also attained his Masters in Postsecondary Education in December 2018. He is from Mayfield, Kentucky and enjoys kayaking, disc golf and going on adventures. Travis served as the Graduate Assistant for the Career Services office for almost two years until he moved into the position of Employer Relations Coordinator. He also has his own outdoor YouTube channel called "Trav & J Outdoors", where he does everything from Geocaching to Magnet Fishing! He is also an avid Pokemon Go player! His favorite career hack is networking with individuals whom you don't know and learning about their company/institution. His favorite thing about Career Services is the family-like atmosphere.

Jordan Garner

Jordan graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in May 2021. He is now pursuing a Master's Degree in Postsecondary Education. He is from Murray, Kentucky and is a huge sports fan. He also loves going outdoors and activities like fishing, kayaking, and exploring. His favorite career hack is "If it takes you less than 5 minutes, do it now. Then, it's out of your way and you don't have to worry about it." His favorite thing about Career Services is the dedication to student's success.

Quinn Eaton

Quinn Eaton received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and is now working on a Masters in Communications. He is expected to graduate in July 2022. He is from Benton, Kentucky and enjoys playing golf for Murray State University, creating and producing his own Podcast ("All You Need to Know") and website, and watching his favorite sports teams! His favorite career hack is getting to know people and making connections. His favorite thing about Career Services is that they have personally helped him get connected to people in his future field. He found that very helpful and aspires to help others make connections.

Kilee Roser

Kilee Roser is a Business Administration major who is expected to graduate in May of 2024. She is from Enfield, Illinois and enjoys cooking, working out, and either boating, jet skiing, or kayaking! Kilee is a sophomore who is involved in the Honors College, Greek Life, and Racer Ambassadors. She also has a small peanut butter and trail mix business called "Outside the Shell Nut Co.". Her favorite career hack is to build rapport with those around you by finding something you have in common. Her favorite thing about Career Services is all aspects of the department; the people and all the resources offered, are both approachable and assessable.

Kaity Stogner

Kaity is a Pre-Vet/Vet Tech major with a minor in Chemistry who will graduate in May of 2023. She is from Bremen, Kentucky and enjoys painting, riding horses, and raising her goats! Kaity is from a small town and enjoys being outside and with animals. She is currently on a journey to become a Veterinarian, but is also crafty. She also likes to listen to a variety of music and even owns a small business alongside her parents. Her favorite career hack is connecting with people and making new friends that share the same interest as her but are still their own unique person. Her favorite thing about Career Services is that the office is inviting and you become close with everyone there, like a family.

Kennedy Cook

Kennedy is a Earth & Environmental Science/Geology major who will graduate in the Fall of 2023. She is from Norris City, IL and enjoys playing volleyball, making jewelry, and hanging out with her sorority sisters! She has worked several different jobs including a barista, lifeguard, retail associate, tutor, personal assistant, jeweler, and now a Peer Career Advisor. She also enjoys starting businesses of her own and helping others do the same. She believes that is never hurts to be kind and professional in life, as you will almost always need those connections again. Outside work, she enjoys playing sports, taking walks, completing homework, and playing with her dogs. She loves Murray State and her favorite phrase is "Shoes Up!". Her favorite career hack would be when applying for jobs, you should network and make contacts within companies you would like to work for. Her favorite thing about Career Services is that it is like a second family; as the team is encouraging, helpful, and they make Murray State feel like a home away from home.
Alexis Yarbrough

Alexis is a Junior Communications Disorders major who will graduate in May of 2023. She is from Jackson, Tennessee and enjoys playing video games, hiking to waterfalls, and traveling to new places. She is also pursuing a Master's in Speech Pathology, where she plans to become a Speech Pathologist in a hospital setting. Her favorite career hack would be "failure isn't fatal, success isn't final." Life will always have something new tomorrow. Her favorite thing about Career Services is the atmosphere in the office and around the team as a whole.
