  • If you have health insurance, contact your insurance company to identify local mental health providers that are covered by your insurance carrier.
  • If you are employed, contact your employer to determine whether they offer any Employee Assistance Programs that provide mental health services.
  •  If you live near any colleges or universities, contact them to ask if they offer mental health services for community members.
  •  Contact your local Health Department and ask for a list of local resources.
  •  Ask your doctor for a referral.
  •  Ask friends and family for recommendations.
  • Access online databases, such as Psychology Today’s Find a Therapist database or Good Therapy to identify options in your area.
  •  If your issue is related to sexual assault or sexual abuse, contact RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network) at their 24-hour hotline (800.656.HOPE), and they can help you locate appropriate local resources.
  •  Contact an online provider, such as Better Help or Amwell  that can connect you with licensed mental health professionals who provide online therapy services.
