Student Financial Services

Invest in your future

Last year, 99% of Murray State first-year students received a scholarship or financial aid. Overall, more than $127 million was awarded in financial aid and scholarships.

At Murray State University, we believe that no one should be denied an education because of financial need. That's the mission of our Student Financial Services team which includes Financial Aid, Scholarships and the Bursar's Office. Those three offices work together to make your college education more affordable.

Paying for college

Complete the FAFSA

FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You must complete the FAFSA to be eligible for Financial Aid or scholarships. It's a free application that helps determine your eligibility for financial aid like work-study programs, grants, or loans. Plus, we must have your FAFSA on file to award any scholarships.

Complete the FAFSA

Complete the scholarship application

The scholarship application opens on September 1 every year. You can complete the scholarship application before the FAFSA, but you will need to complete the FAFSA before we can award your scholarship.

Apply for other scholarships

Murray State offers scholarships but you may also be eligible for external or non-Murray State scholarships. Apply for as many scholarships as possible to help make your college education more affordable.
