MBA Prep Courses

All MBA students upon admission, regardless of work experience or bachelor's degree field, will need to be placed into two internal prep courses that cover calculus/microeconomics and financial accounting. These two prep courses are free of charge and are administered through our course management system (Canvas). If you do know the material well already, there is a way to go directly to the assessment at the end of the course.

The accounting prep course is ACC 689, and needs to be completed (with an 80% in the course) before a student may enroll in ACC 604, and the calculus/microeconomics prep course is ECO 689, and likewise needs to be completed (with an 80% in the course) before a student may enroll in ECO 625. While you are working on these prep courses, you certainly may take other MBA-level courses as well. If you do know the material well already, there is a way to go directly to the assessment at the end of the course.

Concentrations

No Concentration

Many students do the regular MBA with no concentration, meaning the three electives in the MBA program can come from any business-related discipline, and MBA students may take three electives from three different areas (or two different areas) if they so wish. The MBA Director will assist you in choosing electives.  Any elective below is acceptable, given all any necessary prerequisite has been completed—also, electives in CIS (Computer Information Systems) and other fields are acceptable as well, given the prerequisite courses have been completed.

However, some students prefer to do the MBA with a concentration in one of the following business disciplines. An MBA with a concentration of your choice means that all three of your electives will be taken in your chosen discipline area.
