Transfer Students
Murray State offers many scholarship opportunities to transfer students. All undergraduate students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to receive any university scholarships and/or discounts.
Transfer Scholarship

The Transfer Scholarship is a non-refundable scholarship that can be applied to direct costs (tuition, campus housing, campus meal plan, or University Bookstore textbook charges) at Murray State. The Transfer Scholarship is awarded for three years (fall and spring consecutive semesters) or until a bachelor's degree is received, whichever occurs first.
Requirements
- First-time transfer students entering MSU fall 2026
- Must have at least a 2.75 transferable GPA
- Enrolling as a full-time student (minimum of 12 hours per semester at Murray State).
- Three-year award or until bachelor's degree is received, whichever occurs first.
- No minimum required transfer hours.
- Renewal requires a minimum 2.75 cumulative college GPA and completion of at least 24 credit hours each academic year (fall and spring semesters).
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
$500 per year
Awards are for two years (fall and spring consecutive semesters) or until a bachelor's degree is received, whichever occurs first.
Requirements
- First-time transfer student.
- Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
- Notify the Murray State Admissions and Transfer Center that they are a member of Phi Theta Kappa or indicate membership on the application for admission.
Non-traditional student Scholarships
- Award amounts vary.
- Must submit the scholarship application and FAFSA.
- The deadline for Non-Traditional Student Scholarships is June 1.
Competitive scholarships
- Awarded based on merit and need.
- Amounts vary.
- Must submit the scholarship application and FAFSA.
- The deadline to apply is February 8, 2026
