Naming Opportunities
Program of Distinction in Cybersecurity Campaign to Raise Support for Equipment and Student Support
In the 2024 biennium budget, the Kentucky General Assembly appropriated $10 million in funding directed to Murray State University for the renovation of the Cyber Center and cybersecurity classroom spaces on the 2nd floor of the Martha Layne Collins Industry and Technology Building. Construction began in June 2026, with completion expected in the fall of 2027.
Since its founding through Kentucky’s Programs of Distinction initiative in 1997, Murray State’s cybersecurity program has grown into a nationally recognized leader, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees, accelerated master’s pathways, and specialized certificates. Murray State University has been designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency and the Department of War since 2019.
We now offer several prestigious naming opportunities for donors and corporate partners to invest in the future of cybersecurity and technology education in our region and state*. The facility will offer Murray State students expanded opportunities such as laboratories, student applied research areas, larger classrooms and more study and collaborative spaces.
Gift commitments can be made over a period of up to five (5) years and will support the purchase of new technology, student support services, and teaching equipment. The campaign goal is to raise $1.5 million for this initiative. These private funds will be used for added equipment, supplies and student support as we provide our students and cybersecurity partners with a state-of-the-art teaching, learning and experiential facility. Specifically, the donations will support student scholarships, a student support fund and faculty endowment. We invite you to boldly share our commitment to advancing the Murray State University Program of Distinction in cybersecurity- contact us today for more information!
