Wellness Pledge

Murray State’s Racer Wellness Pledge is a program designed to provide incentives to encourage faculty and staff to continuously improve all aspects of their well-being. However, due to the COVID-19 issue, all Racer Wellness events, including the Lunch and Learn series, have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. 

We encourage you to use this time to take advantage of online resources, such as Healthy Lifestyles and Murray State’s EAP, Wayne Corp. The Racer Wellness team understands that this is an uncertain time, and we want to reassure you that your Racer Pledge eligibility will not be impacted by this situation.

2020 Wellness Pledge

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled in Murray State’s health plan - AND -
  • Must elect Pledge during Open Enrollment 2020.

Phase 1 

Phase 1 -$150 paid in January 2020

Racer Wellness PledgeIf enrolled in a HDHP plan, the $150 will be deposited in your HSA account.


If enrolled in a PPO plan, the $100 will be discounted from January health insurance premium.

YOU MUST COMPLETE PHASE 1 BY JUNE 1ST TO MOVE TO PHASE 2.

Obtain two screenings between July 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020

2020 Wellness Pledge screening requirements:
  • Acceptable preventive screenings are listed below.​
  • Screenings must be filed through Murray State University insurance.
  • Screenings must take place between July 1, 2019 - May 31, 2020.
  • Proof of preventive screenings will be obtained through name only reports from Murray State benefit vendors.  
Choose from the following:
  • Annual wellness visit
  • Cervical cancer screening (women's exam)
  • Cholesterol screening
  • Colon cancer screening
  • *Dental examination
  • Dermatology skin screening
  • Diabetes screening (fasting glucose)
  • Heel scan bone density screening
  • Mammogram
  • Prostate cancer screening (PSA)
  • *Vision screening.
*Must carry Murray State insurance for wellness pledge screening, can use health plan if using vision screening.

Attend and/or complete 2 Racer Wellness sanctioned events between January 1, 2020 and May 31, 2020

 


Plan to Be Tobacco Free

Wednesday, Match 11, 2020 | 2pm - 3pm | Curris Center Barkley Room

 

Who: Any Murray State employees and/or spouse who are in any stage of considering quitting tobacco.

Why: Plan to be Tobacco Free is a one-hour program presented by the Kentucky Cancer Program. It provides information, education, and resources on going tobacco free.

  • The College of Business and Racer Wellness have collaborated to bring you this session on Financial Planning with Dr. Durr. Bring your lunch and enjoy!

Lunch & Learn: Gardening with Dr. Alyx Shultz  (POSTPONED to be rescheduled at a later time)

Wednesday, April 15, 2020 | 12pm - 12:45pm | Curris Center Ballroom (3rd level)

  • Bring your lunch and join this interactive session to learn how faculty in the Hutson School of Agriculture are using Mabel's Garden, a cross-curricular outreach endeavour, to connect classroom knowledge with real life application, community, and food production. In true "Mabel's Garden" fashion come prepared to get your hands dirty and start your own dwarf tomato plant.

Must complete a minimum of three.

Classes take place in the John W. Carr Hall Dance Studio (2nd floor) and are available to all MSU employees, spouses and retirees.
Sign-in sheets will be at each class for Wellness Pledge credit.

Real Age Test
Assessment provided by Healthy Lifestyles that will provide you with a well-rounded assessment of your well-being.
The Real Age Test is on the Healthy Lifestyles website.
Racer Wellness will receive a monthly report a name only for Wellness Pledge credit.

 

 
Tobacco Cessation Course
Murray State will offer a Freedom From Smoking course in the late spring. Details TBA.
Freedom From Smoking courses are offered locally and completion of the course will count for a sanctioned event.
Racer Wellness must receive documentation of completion from the course instructor.


EAP Soft Skills Course – Wayne Corporation website

  • If Phase 1 is NOT completed, employees will incur a penalty of $180, assessed monthly September 2020 – November 2020.
  • If Phase 2 is NOT completed, employees will incur a penalty of $120, assessed monthly October 2020 – December 2020.
  • Reasonable alternatives and accommodations will be made available in compliance with HIPAA & ADA.
