Occupational Safety and Health Scholarships

Many scholarship opportunities are available to occupational safety and health students and range from general scholarships for any student who meets basic eligibility requirements to those sponsored by companies and individuals specifically targeted toward occupational safety and health students.
Scholarships for 2023-2024 Academic Year

- Submit completed application along with your essay directly or by email to Dr. Rupkatha Bardhan, rbardhan@murraystate.edu or Dr. Bassam Aiteh, batieh@murraystate.edu by Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11:59am or before.
- Applications will be evaluated by two faculty members or more.
- To be considered, the applicant must meet the following.
- Active Murray State University AIHA Student Chapter Member
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 (undergraduate students)
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 (graduate students)
- Submit an IH related essay/essays (answer two questions)

- The AIST Foundation offers up to Fifty (50) Steel Intern Scholarships valued at US$7,500 per year each, including the Premier Intern Scholarship valued at US$12,000 per year. These scholarships require a commitment to a paid summer internship at a North American steel producing company or steel-related company during the Summer of 2024. Internship may require temporary relocation. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply.

- Be a full-time student who will be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program that is an IHMM approved hazardous materials management or safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) degree program.
- Be in good academic standing in the IHMM approved degree program (at least 2.0 cumulative GPA).
- Applicant must have at least one full academic year remaining at the time of the application deadline.
- Demonstrate a desire to enter the hazardous materials management or safety, health, and environmental professions upon graduation.
- Must have attained status as a Student/Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (ST/CHMM) or Student/Associate Safety and Health Manager (ST/ASHM).

- Scholarship Amount: Up to $15,000
- Scholarship may be awarded for a maximum of three academic years.
- Qualifications:
- Enrolled as a full-time bachelor's degree seeking student
- Classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior
- Majoring in Occupational Safety and Health
- Minimum GPA 2.5 (4.0 scale)
- Kentucky Resident

- ASSP Student Section and National Member
- Admitted to the Murray State OSH program
- Write a 500 word essay on the OSH topic of your choice
